About Great Plains College
Great Plains College is at the leading edge of Saskatchewan’s regional college system. The college is focused on meeting the needs of learners, employers and communities in western Saskatchewan. We are working to build stronger leaders, careers, partnerships and communities. Our decentralized campuses are located in Kindersley, Swift Current and Warman with additional programming at locations in Biggar, Maple Creek and Rosetown. Throughout our locations in western Saskatchewan, we offer a number of post-secondary certificate, diploma and degree programs as well as university courses, safety training, Adult Basic Education and English language training. The college strives to provide for the distinct needs of our service area by challenging everyone to continually build a responsive, innovated and results-orientated institution. As a result, Great Plains College was the first regional college in Saskatchewan to introduce a health and dental plan for its students and also proudly boasts one of the strongest scholarship programs in all of Canada.
This competency-based program allows you to work and learn at your own pace, while receiving practical and applied training in word processing, accounting, spreadsheets, database and Internet searches, office procedures, communications and business calculations. This program, offered in partnership with Assiniboine Community College, has two intakes throughout the year, which means you can start in September or January.
Graduates may find work as data entry clerks, general office clerks or administrative assistants among many other career opportunities. Jobs may include preparing correspondence, reports, statements and other material, operating office equipment, filing, answering phones and other general clerical duties. Our alumni have gone on to work in the oilfield, banking, health care and junior hockey fields to name just a few.
